Mardi Gras 2015 is fast approaching! This year Columbia’s festivities include the Krewe de Columbi Ya Ya Mardi Gras parade, the all-day Animal Mission Party Animals Mardi Gras festival, and a new addition- the Lagniappe 5k run. All the fun takes place on Saturday, February 14, 2015.
The Parade: Let the good times roll!
Columbia’s first Mardi Gras krewe, the Krewe de Columbi Ya Ya, hosts Columbia’s annual Mardi Gras Parade. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, and strongly encouraged to wear a costume! The parade begins at Owens Field at 11:00 am and wends its way through Rosewood back to City Roots Urban Farm in time for the Animal Mission Party Animals Mardi Gras Festival.
The Festival: We’re all party animals at heart.
Animal Mission Party Animals Mardi Gras Festival is a family-friendly fundraiser for the Animal Mission of the Midlands, featuring a legendary musical lineup orchestrated by the father of Columbia’s Mardi Gras, Kaptain Tom Hall. Throw in food, drinks, dancing, and BAM! It’s one heck of a party. Find out more here.
The 5k: They don’t call it Fat Tuesday for nothing.
This year there’s a new opportunity to atone for our partying before the party! Entry fee is $30 (which includes festival admission and a T-shirt), add $5 for a dog (all the proceeds from your dog go directly to Animal Mission–dogs helping dogs!)
There’s so much more. Check out the vibe here.
